Carsoft Ultimate Home 12 Crack
Hi, I know this has been beat to death but sometimes it is very hard to understand or get a clear answer on a question. Humour me please? I want to buy one of these things as I have three MB's and it would be a handy thing to have. Which one becomes the question. They seem to be about the same in price which incidentally is all over the map. From what I can figure somewhere between $200-$400 for either one my choice.
Does anyone have any experience with both? Recommend one over the other? Reliability or ease of use or are they about the same just with different names. I see the Carsoft has v7 and v12 out there.

I assume v12 being the better of the two. Also can anyone point me towards a vendor? I also notice Chinese versions available. I have no experience with Carsoft. But looking at Carsoft V12 page, the one glaring thing I see is no MOST functions, only D2B ( Fiber Optic networks with MOST being 2003'ish onwards) I also see some limited communication ability over the OBD II port versus the 38 pin port under the hood.
Having said that, and looking at your profile, I would think Carsoft would be adequate for your stable. However, using the STAR C3 would remove ALL doubt about ability to diagnose to the limits of the particular vehicle's communication capabilitys. The question of compatibility would sway me to the STAR. The legit carsoft V12 is WAY ahead of the older cracked chinese carsoft V7 versions.
But it does cost more. There are legit versions of V12 on ebay or direct from carsoft. It does a good diag job on my 97 E420 and 97SL500. However, star is more complete. For example V12 won't check the RST functions or reset RST faults on the 97SL.
It does have troubleshooting trees for any fault found, component locations etc. IMHO stay away from Carsoft V7, the chinese versions don't have troubleshooting trees, and it doesn't always do what it claims. And V7 REQUIRES a computer with RS232 port, which most don't have. It seldom works with a USB/RS232 or cardbus/RS232 etc. The legit V12 will work with many USB or Cardbus or PCMCIA to RS232 dongles.

They all originally come from China even if sold as Euorpean or US products. Actually the assembled circuit boards for the original 'C3' tools came from China, they were just assembled in Europe. The point is to purchase the correct Chinese product, not the most expensive product. Not all are 'rip-off' versions, even at a reasonably low price. Seems to me the Carsoft is much more legitimate, they have a site, contact numbers, works on any computer with XP etc.etc.
The C3 seems a little convoluted, can only be bought from online retailers like Alibaba and such, it needs a specific Dell laptop which is obsolete. Disney Intro here. Sometimes comes with a HDD, sometimes not. The GUI is antiquated IMHO and just seems to be a little bit more 'slimey' meaning get it and pay for it and probably never get it to work.
